New Board Members include Terry Power, Dennis Fields and Shirley Watral. Each bring decades of experience and Second Amendment advocacy to Florida Carry’s board of directors.
Florida Carry Inc. is proud to announce the addition of three new members to its board of directors.
Terry Power, Dennis Fields and Shirley Watral join current board members Sean Caranna, Richard Nascak, M. Scott Whigham, Jim Dykes and Lee Williams, increasing the board to eight members.
Our primary goal remains restoring the right of Floridians to openly carry arms. Our three new board members will make it easier to achieve this goal while pursuing other legal and legislative initiatives.
Respectfully,
Your Florida Carry board of directors
Terry Power
Terry Power is a small business owner and a resident of Oldsmar, Florida. He has been in the retirement plan industry since 1981 and oversees ERISA qualified plans across the country. Originally from Buffalo, New York, Terry has been a resident of North Pinellas County since 1985. He is passionate about protecting your Second Amendment rights and moving Florida towards Constitutional Carry.
Dennis Fields
Dennis Fields has been active in civil rights activism since 2013 when a friend was arrested for legally open carrying a rifle in Texas. He immediately sought groups in Florida with an open carry awareness mission. Jacksonville Open Carry was his first stop, and he was introduced to Florida Carry soon after.
Dennis has been a volunteer for Florida Carry for over a decade. He has attended and conducted many open carry fishing events, attended open carry camping events, spoken before the Florida Constitution Revision Commission, spoken on the steps of our Florida Capitol in Second Amendment rallies, set up membership drives at local liberty minded events, secured a meeting for Florida Carry with the staff of Governor Ron DeSantis, visited the offices of Florida Sheriffs, Florida Senators, and Florida Representatives, spoken before committees from both the Florida Senate and Florida House of Representatives, and has travelled to support other Florida Carry members from one end of Florida (South Beach Miami) to the other (Panama City). With a background in law enforcement, Dennis understands both sides of the debate while steadfastly pushing for more liberty for We the People.
Shirley Watral
Shirley Watral is the author of Amazon bestseller Heels to Holster, a firearms instructor, Women for Gun Rights Florida state director, motivational speaker, and A Girl & A Gun facilitator. She is passionate about helping women in situations like hers find they too have the power inside them to persevere. Heels to Holster is a memoir of how she discovered the warrior inside as she survived an abusive relationship and thrived in the aftermath.
She has a passion for educating women on how to handle firearms safely and helping other survivors of domestic violence. She empowers others by sharing her own life story and wants to encourage women to build positively upon whatever has happened to them and become a warrior for their life.
She has served as the Women for Gun Rights Florida state director since 2020. Women for Gun Rights is a nonpartisan organization with their focus on developing relations with lawmakers. Their mission is to raise awareness among the community and legislation that firearms safety and violence prevention are achieved through education, not legislation.
About Florida Carry, Inc.:
Florida Carry is a Florida nonprofit, non-partisan, grassroots organization founded in 2010. Florida Carry is dedicated to advancing the fundamental civil right of all Floridians to keep and bear arms for self-defense as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and the Constitution of Florida. In 2016 Florida Carry was named the Grassroots Organization of the Year by the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
Florida Carry, Inc. was organized in order to better coordinate activities, effectively lobby the state legislature, and to provide a legal entity capable of filing suit to demand compliance with state and federal law. Florida Carry stands to represent our members, millions of gun owners, and the countless knife and defensive weapon carriers of Florida. We are not beholden to any national organization’s agenda that may compromise that mission. Florida Carry is the state’s largest independent Second Amendment advocacy organization.
I commend Florida carry.
One day I hope to be able to open carry in Florida, even when I put my fishing pole down.
